Scheepers

August 18th, 2011 by Matt Pietrzak

Preamble

Ralf Scheepers, Judas Priest wannabe, ex-Gamma Ray, current Primal Fear singer is now out with a solo album. However, one wonders how it is a solo album if Mat Sinner just wrote most of these songs anyways. Along with Sinner, other familiar faces appear such as Magnus Karlsson, Tim Ripper Owens, Kai Hansen, and Victor Smolski.

Review

As it turns out, a lot could go wrong even with such a strong line-up. The album is plagued with generic and familiar sounding riffs. There is a lot of material that sounds like Primal Fear or Judas Priest. Normally I wouldn’t really mind, but there is nothing interesting that’s worth repeating.

In case you’re wondering if I enjoyed anything off this album, well… there is a song that I had a chuckled at called Cyberfreak, it’s about the internet, piracy, porn, etc… It was nothing too special, but the lyrics were a bit funny. The Pain of the Accused has its moments as well, right after the long intro.

The Bottom Line

Short review? Yup, but that’s because I have nothing more to say about it. It’s a really boring album that I think I’ll never listen to again. I tried to like the album, I really did. I gave it a few chances, but it never really hooked me. Sorry, Ralf, maybe next time.
